Want A Green Lawn?
If you are struggling with dry patches in your lawn due to the 3 day watering schedule — join the club! This is a common problem experienced by most everyone in this area due to the large percentage of clay and sand in our soil.
After quite a bit of experimentation, I've come up with a proven remedy to prevent those ugly dry patches. Here are the steps needed to transform your lawn into a lush, green oasis:
- Go to Home Depot or Lowes and purchase a bag of Revive [pellets] and another bag of Rich Lawn and create a mixture of 1/3 Rich Lawn and 2/3 Revive, then spread heavily over your lawn [preferably right after you mow]. Expect to take a shower right after you do this, because this stuff really stinks! All of the ingredients are organic and won't burn your lawn. You can expect to re-do this about once a month or once your lawn begins to lose that dark green look. This should begin to lessen your lawn's need for water.
- If your lawn mower isn't already set to the highest setting, begin moving it up a notch every week until you have it at the highest setting or 3".
- Make sure your watering schedule begins at 5:00 am for your lawn and about 11:00 pm for your drip system.
Expect to start seeing a difference in about two to three weeks. Your lawn will begin to take on a dark green color, will thicken significantly and your dry patches *should* disappear.
Note: This is just a friendly advice from a neighbor. I am not a professional lawn care provider and recommend you consult a professional if you aren't sure about these tips.
